Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is unclear and the American officials has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a populated district in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
