New information has come to light concerning the shocking demises of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.

The Initial Report

As detailed in an account referencing a confidential source, a practitioner arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after failing to get inside the residence. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.

After gaining access to the house, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had gone with her then dialed 911. Following this, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Developments

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, as well as the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now being held and is ineligible for bail.

Disputed Reports

The anonymous source challenged several initial details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.

Additionally pushed back against widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction also extends to accounts of alleged "erratic" behavior by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.

Investigation Timeline

Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
