The Streaming Giant Casts Ideal Performer for Mr. 2 in One Piece Season 3

Baroque Works is poised to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, although the true confrontation won’t unfold until season 3, and a beloved, popular member has now been chosen.

Netflix announced Tuesday that the skilled actor will appear in the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Bentham. The role can use their power to morph into an exact copy of any individual they’ve made contact with with their right hand. Escola, who is non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will depict a interpretation of that character re-envisioned as non-binary, instead of as a drag artist, in the real-life adaptation, as in the initial comic and cartoon version.

Escola is joined by multiple new cast members tasked with bringing Baroque Works to the screen, such as head the main antagonist, played by the seasoned performer, a talented actress as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.

Though the role is a important part of Baroque Works, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece season 3. With the next season likely to portray the Little Garden segment, this signals a notable change in the timing of their first appearance, one that could signal additional alterations to the plot development.

Escola’s blend of precise humor and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the character. Besides their latest vocal work in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and multiple awards for penning and acting in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the adaptability they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s most celebrated figures.

Netflix's live-action One Piece show is due to premiere for its second season on March 10th, 2026.
